Material & Process

This artwork is created, using a layered and encaustic process that combines photography with wax based and mixed media techniques.

Materials include:

  • Archival photographic print
  • Encaustic medium (beeswax and damar resin)
  • Pigments and encaustic paint layers
  • Mounted archival substrate or panel
  • Oil paint

Each piece begins with an original photographic image captured by Nancy Falconi and is then transformed through multiple layers of Encaustic application. The wax is fused through heat, creating depth, translucency, and a painterly surface that preserves both image and texture.

No two pieces are ever exactly alike due to the nature of the encaustic process.

Shipping & Returns

All original artworks are carefully packaged and shipped from Ontario, Canada.

At this time, shipping is available within Canada and the United States only.

Please allow 5-10 business days for processing and preparation, as each piece is handled individually to ensure it is properly protected for transit. Tracking information will be provided once your artwork has shipped.

Due to the nature of encaustic and mixed media artworks, extra care is taken in packaging to protect surface integrity during temperature changes, and handling.

For US collectors, applicable duties or custom fees, (if any) are the responsibility of the buyer. If you have questions about shipping or timing before purchasing, you are welcome to reach out directly.

Care Instructions

This artwork is created using encaustic, a wax based medium combined with mixed media and photography.

Encaustic is one of the oldest known artistic mediums, dating back to ancient Greece and Egypt. Early encaustic paintings, including the Fayum mummy portraits created over 2000 years ago, still survive today, demonstrating the remarkable longevity and archival stability of this medium when properly care for.

To ensure the preservation of your artwork:

  • Avoid direct sunlight or prolonged UV exposure.
  • Do not hang in areas exposed to high heat (such as near fireplaces, radiators, or direct hot sunlight through glass)
  • Keep away from high humidity or moisture

The subtle texture, depth, and surface variations are intentional and are part of the encaustic process. These qualities give each piece it's unique, tactile presence.

With proper care, and encaustic artwork works, remain stable, luminous, and beautifully preserved for many years.
