This month's Authentic Muse Membership project invites us to explore lineage, memory, and resilience through ancestral photos, acrylic paint, and the beautiful unpredictability of Crackle Paste. As the surface fractures, we reflect on the stories that shaped us—fragmented, layered, and deeply rooted in feminine strength.
Material Highlights
We worked with crackle paste, photo transfers, and subtle glazes of paint and pencil crayon—creating an aged, painterly surface that feels like a piece of history unearthed.
Creative Process:
One of the most powerful parts of this process is watching the crackle form—completely out of our control. It reminds me of how time shapes memory. I used a photo of my great-grandmother, even though it wasn’t perfect. The imperfections added to the story.
What We’re Learning This Month
- How to use crackle paste to create rich, aged textures
- The art of laser photo transfer on a textured surface
- How to work with glazes and matte medium to subtly add color and value
- Tips for sealing, layering, and working intuitively with imperfection
- The beauty of working with ancestral themes and personal imagery
Each month, we explore a new technique and theme inside the Authentic Muse Membership—offering guidance, encouragement, and space for soulful creativity. If you'd like to join us on this journey, we’d love to have you.

With each crack and layer, we uncover not only a story, but a deeper connection to who we are—and the women who came before us.
