Take a behind the scenes look at the residency, the heronry and the final work created at the Artist in Residency Nancy completed while at the Kortright Center for Conservation funded by the Toronto Region Conservation Authority and the York Region Art Council.
I created a series of 6 encaustic and photography paintings on wood panels. I choose to create a story that documented the building of the nests, the care of the newborns and the final image is of one of the last blue herons to leave the nest.
I then created some acrylic an encaustic samples and decided to proceed with the encaustic medium to finish the work. The hardworking bees at Kortright donated some wax for the work.
